Progressive Education

Watching the video about progressive education made me aware that our traditional education has been following a fixed pattern for a long time. It reminded me of my own education, which was, for the most part, very traditional and filled with drills and memorization.

Reflecting on John Dewey's philosophy, which champions' learning by doing,' I am reminded of the educators who strove to make a difference in their teaching practice. These pioneers, despite the lack of technological aids, created a learning environment that was rich in opportunities. Though not always recognized, their efforts were instrumental in shaping my educational journey.

Technology in our classroom has enabled us to provide more engaging lessons, but the truth is that it has not been a radical change. As the blog states, "People who like this stuff...like this stuff." I am aware that sometimes I used to be the kind of educator who liked the traditional setting. It is because I was used to it, but I am also aware that things are changing in our world, and like John Dewey states: "If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's we rob them of tomorrow."
