Want to Innovate?

As I absorbed Joichi Ito's video, his profound statement resonated with me: " Education is what people do to you, and learning is what you do to yourself." This perspective, a new lens through which to view my role as an educator, has sparked a personal transformation. I now see learning as a journey of self-discovery, a path I am eager to traverse. As I guide my students, I also embark on this self-directed learning journey.

I also like his idea about focusing, being fully aware, and being super present. We should be “nowists”, constantly learning new things and enjoying our present time. Being present allows us to focus on opportunities and maximize the current moment. However, I am also aware that having a plan for the future is essential without getting obsessed with it or worrying excessively.

I am flexible because I am open to trying new educational methods and allowing my students to do the same. In the school district where I work, we are permitted and even encouraged to use technology as a tool in the classroom.

However, as the speaker states in the TED talk, "We can't hand them a computer and say educate yourself." Blended learning provides students with opportunities to learn at their own pace, taking ownership of their learning, and also allows teachers to create individualized learning experiences for all students.

My commitment to integrating technology into my teaching is not just a strategy but a passion. I firmly believe that this approach will enhance students' engagement in my lessons, foster collaboration, and create a positive learning environment. It is this belief, this enthusiasm, that drives me to explore new ways of incorporating technology into our classrooms.
