Self-reflection

Would you believe me if I said that the main reason I signed up for this Master’s program was to feel rejuvenated? Yes, I'm not kidding. I am an educator with quite a few years of experience under my belt, and I needed something provocative that would make me feel the same enthusiasm that I experienced during those first years of my professional practice. In recent years, I have also had the opportunity to mentor young teachers and student teachers. With their fresh and daring spirits, my mentees inspired me to take action, join them, and voila! I enrolled in this exciting and challenging study program. I have always sought to be informed about the latest educational currents and theories regarding teaching practices. Adopting the growth mindset, I even told myself it would not be easy, but it would be worth it!

Throughout these last weeks, I have experienced a series of mixed feelings, from anxiety about finishing work on time to euphoria about starting to build my digital portfolio. In my mind, I continue repeating Dr.Harapnuik’s words -“Your e-portfolio will set you apart” -.

Collaborative Team Work

I should emphasize how important it is to work as a team. The devoted participation of my teammates Angelica and Desiree has encouraged me to continue moving forward and not give up. Collaborating with each other allowed us to cultivate specific abilities and talents lying dormant before joining the ADL Master’s program. Skills include frequently communicating with each other, brainstorming for ideas, discussing problem-solution scenarios, and team decision-making. I strongly value my teammates' collaboration and the way in which they have made me grow,  leading by example. It happens that, for our convenience, we work at the same school. We actually made the decision to enroll in the ADL program as a team. We knew we would encounter challenges along the way, and one needs a study group to succeed. So, we meet weekly to discuss assignments’ objectives and to clarify the course of action. We also formed a group chat to communicate swiftly and receive feedback from one another.

Sometimes, I have felt overwhelmed trying to meet deadlines, which is stressful. Nevertheless, as a team, we encourage each other to keep on going and perform our personal best.

Key and Support Contributions

Each team member has contributed ideas and opinions to help us grow during these courses.

  • Desiree has extensive technological knowledge and has contributed her creative ideas about improving our web pages.

  • Angelica is in charge of providing links and information that support our investigations.

  • Doyna, I have contributed with ideas on how to improve our writing skills while working on a document.

  • Our weekly meetings have helped us stay organized, informed, and focused on our goals.

  • Our WhatsApp group allows us to enhance collaboration, share updates and reminders, answer questions, and make quick contributions.

Room for Personal Growth:

  • Time management:

I have noticed the need to improve my time management to meet all the requirements of my departmentalized life.

  •  Prioritizing Balance:

I must improve my daily routines to balance my professional workload, ADL study time, and personal life.

  • Meeting Deadlines Dates:

I need to calendarize the submission deadlines dates and keep them on a calendar on the wall of my small studio office, visible at all times.

  • Professional Reading:

I need to set time aside to read more books about Blended Learning and the COVA approach to become more knowledgeable on the subject.

  • Technology

I need to set a time to practice on different platforms that offer templates to create e-portfolios.

Group Improvements

  • Time management: We need to improve our time management by focusing on the topics discussed in our weekly meetings.

  • Ideas & Strategies: Be ready with ideas and strategies to reach our goal and search and investigate different sources of information.

  • Calendarize: we can create a calendar to help us be more organized and keep track of homework and deadlines.

  • Smart Goals: We must set smart goals to finish our projects as a team.
